2008

a classic vintage

2008 was a surprising year. The 2008 growing season and ripening period had to contend with greatly fluctuating weather that changed abruptly from heavy showers to bright sunshine, and from cold to hot spells. Although ripening was uneven from plot to plot, this was enhanced by diurnal temperature differences in early September. This fine weather got rid of any vine diseases and provided the necessary sunshine for good ripening. The skins were thick, with high levels of colouring matter and tannin.

Tasting notes:

Deep colour
A fresh bouquet of red and black fruit
This freshness carries over to the palate, which also features blackberry and blackcurrant notes. Perfectly balanced wine with classic structure and enough substance to age well
